One of my favorite lunch spots in downtown Augusta is the Mellow Mushroom! Not only do they have the best pizza in town in my opinion, they offer great service and a quick lunch menu.

I usually get the slice and salad offered on their lunch menu.  This is the best of both worlds-a treat and something healthy. It’s one of the best cheap, quick lunches in town! I also enjoy the garlic pretzels with marinara sauce. They come straight to your table warm from the oven and drizzled with a little bit of Parmesan and butter, and they’re so good!

Whether you have little time, or as much time as you want, make sure to pay Mellow Mushroom a visit! Enjoy!!

What is your favorite Masters week event?

I’ve had the privilege of going to the Masters several times for the four days of play and so I would say my favorite is all of it! Just to be able to walk the grounds and be there is quite an experience.

Rock Fore Dough!

We have been several times to the Masters. The entire week is great! We rent our home so others may enjoy the Masters. Some times I want to stay, it is such an exciting week!!! Oh, don’t forget to play Jones Creek. Food at the club house is great too

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to see Willie Nelson live in Augusta. I’ve seen him several times before, but my husband hadn’t so I decided to take him.  We had dinner downtown at the Mellow Mushroom and went to Stillwater Taproom for a few drinks before the concert.  The show was at the Bell Auditorium and you can see from this picture that there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.

The entire place was packed and everyone was excited about the show.  Willie’s son Lukas opened up for him and he was pretty good!  His voice sounds a little bit like Willie, but he plays the electric guitar and his music definitely has its own sound.  Once Lukas was done with his set, we waited patiently for Willie to start.

Willie came out on stage to cheers and shouts and everyone was anxious to hear him.  He played a great set of his classics, like “Mammas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys”, “Crazy”, and “Blue Eyes Cryin’ in the Rain”.  Of course, he also had to play “Georgia On My Mind”, another one of my favorites.  Almost the entire crowd sang along with Willie on this one.

It was a great treat for a legend like Willie Nelson and his family band to play in Augusta.  He proved that no matter what your age, you can still have a good time!

Mellow Mushroom

Downtown Augusta really has a lot to offer!  One of my favorite places to eat in Augusta is the Mellow Mushroom.  The downtown location has a really laidback atmosphere and unique architecture. The restaurant is housed in a renovated gas station, with perfect spots to dine inside or outside and enjoy the hustle and bustle of Broad Street.  It is a great place to stop by for a hoagie or a slice at lunch, with nearly any kind of pizza topping imaginable. Their garlic and parmesan pretzels with marinara dipping sauce are always a great way to start off your meal and their salads, calzones and pizzas really are to die for!  Since the Mellow Mushroom is in such a great location in downtown Augusta it is within walking distance of Riverwalk and several other  attractions like Springfield Village Park and Artist’s Row.  And if you come downtown to the ‘Shroom for supper, be sure to take a stroll along Broad Street after you are finished.  You never know what kind of nightlife you might find at Augusta’s bars and pubs!

Stillwater Tap Room

If you enjoy the casual vibe of the Mellow Mushroom, then you will definitely enjoy Stillwater Tap Room, located just two blocks down Broad Street in Downtown.  They have a great selection of beers and spirits for you to enjoy while sitting in one of their rocking chairs.  You can also challenge your friends to pool or darts upstairs or relax at the bar while taking in one of the bluegrass bands that usually plays.  For more information on Stillwater and a live music schedule, click here or call 706-826-9857.
